Estimated COST of ATTENDANCE Budgets
The Financial Aid Office recognizes that it costs more to attend college than just the direct costs for Tuition/Fees and Room/Board (for those students contracting with the university to live in the dorms), Books/Supplies and Tablet PC rental. As a result, Estimated Cost of Attendance Budgets (COA) are developed to also take into account estimated Transportation and Miscellaneous Personal Expenses that a student may incur over the course of the academic year. Keep this in mind when you look at information provided by the Admissions Office; they are primarily providing to you direct costs. The exact amount of your COA will depend on whether you are attending full or part time, living on or off campus or with your parents and whether you are a graduate or undergraduate student. Keep in mind that the Estimated COA Budgets are based solely on the educational expenses related to the attendance of the student. Any adjustments to the Estimated COA Budgets for dependent care expenses (such as daycare) are made on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Financial Aid Director.

The following Estimated Cost of Attendance Budgets are used by the School of Mines Financial Aid Office for awarding all types of Federal Student Aid (grants, loans and work-study) for the 2009-2010 academic year (August 31, 2009 to May 7, 2010). Updates to this information for 2010-2011 will occur shortly after the Board of Regents meeting March 30 and 31, 2010.
