Research Initiatives at the School of Mines

South Dakota School of Mines and Technology embraces research to solve problems of industry, the military, government agencies, and to generate economic development in Rapid City, the Black Hills, and the state of South Dakota. Approximately 50 School of Mines faculty members and researcher staff received research awards totaling $10.15 million during the 2008 fiscal year; this represented 90 of 199 proposals submitted, which is an amazing success rate and demonstrates the high caliber of researchers a the School of Mines.
