South Dakota School of Mines and Technology embraces research to solve problems of industry, the military, government agencies, and to generate economic development in Rapid City, the Black Hills, and the state of South Dakota. Approximately 50 School of Mines faculty members and researchers received 98 research awards totaling $12.7 million during the 2005 fiscal year
