Grading Procedures for Graduate Research Credit
NUMBER: Policy II-10-1
(Formerly Policy II-D-3)
Faculty advisors directing
research programs for graduate students have the option of assigning final or
progress research (courses numbered 788, 798, or 898) grades each semester
during the student’s program.
1.
The Board of Regents authorizes the following grades for Research credits
(788, 798, or 898):
S – Satisfactory
NP – Normal Progress
U –
Unsatisfactory
2.
A grade of U or S should be given after every semester of 788, 798, or
898 research. While the grade of NP is authorized, its use is discouraged and
the use of the U or S grade is encouraged.
3.
For an uncompleted program, a U, S, or NP grade will be given for the
last enrollment in 788, 798, or 898 and will stand on the student's transcript
until the program is completed. These grades cannot be used as final grades.
