Distinguishing Between the Foundation and Institution as Administrator of External Funds
Gifts, donations, and grants intended for the support of activities at SDSM&T may be placed in the custodial care of the SDSM&T Foundation. The acceptance and administration of external funds by the SDSM&T Foundation is governed by the IRS under procedures outlined in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This policy is designed to assist in determining whether external funds should be assigned for administration by the foundation or the university.
