The Career Service Council is pleased to announce that the June Traditions of Excellence awardee is Jeanette Nilson. Jeanette is a Program Assistant II in Graduate Education and Sponsored Programs. She started her employment at SDSM&T in February 1991 as a secretary in the Physics department. In June 1999, she accepted her current position (then titled Administrative Assistant I).
Her nominator(s) said "she is instrumental in the efficient operation of the Graduate Education and Sponsored Programs office. Her dedication to professionalism is manifested in her willingness to always help fellow office mates, students and teachers whenever asked, even while in the midst of a very busy schedule. She treats people with respect and tries to be helpful rather than bureaucratic. Jeanette often anticipates future issues that may affect the office operations and takes the initiative to obtain the relevant background information and a corresponding action plan to address the pending issue. She understands the need for planned change and contributes ideas for improvements along with possible plans to implement these constructive changes".
