More About CAMP
The mission of CAMP is to provide an innovative educational program based on the concept of enterprise teams, to create an electronic community using advanced telecommunications technology to facilitate interaction between higher education and industry, and to provide a focus for manufacturing assistance.
Members involved in the CAMP program learn more about the interdisciplinary team approach to solving engineering problems. Students also take elective courses in the area of manufacturing and complete multidisciplinary senior design projects. Projects such as the Solar Car, Mini-Indy and Mini-Baja along with many others, benefit from this team approach. Industry is currently seeking individuals with the background that CAMP members receive through their projects.
Seminars for CAMP are held every Tuesday at 11am in EP255, and include presentations given by our members regarding current engineering technology, and team building. Along with these seminars we also host a variety of team building and leadership events on campus.
If you are of junior or senior standing with a 3.0 GPA or better and would like to become involved with CAMP, you can contact Dr. Mike Batchelder in the Computer/Electrical Engineering Department at (605) 394-2454, or Dr. Dan Dolan in the Mechanical Engineering Department at (605) 394-1273.
"The Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (CAMP) will integrate students, faculty and industry partners into a Center whose purpose will be to develop a unique approach to manufacturing engineering education which simultaneously addresses explicit needs of industry."
