The amount for tuition and fees will be set each year by the South Dakota Board of Regents. The Board of Regents reserves the right to make changes in any fee as and when it deems necessary.

Each course is assessed tuition, university support fee, and a general activity fee, based on number of credit hours. In addition, courses that earn credit for laboratory work are assessed a laboratory fee. All courses in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, paleontology, technology management and geology are assessed a engineering & science fee based on credit hours.

Tuition Rate in Reference to Course Level. All students are assessed at the undergraduate rate for courses numbered 000 through 499, and at the graduate rate for courses numbered 500 and higher. Military science credits are not included in the tuition assessment, but are included in the computation of a student’s load.
